Libsoup3 has been the default networking library since long time ago.

Right now the oldest distribution officially supported is Debian 11, which satisfies all system dependencies necessary to build libsoup3.

Debian 11 support ends on 10th June 2024. At that time it will be possible to remove the libsoup2 codepath, until now that codepath is still needed to build Debian 11 with only system dependencies.
