Whenever a JPEG-XL image expected to be animated is opened or viewed, only the first frame appears.

I feel like I should close this issue. This issue appears to be specific to MacOS Sonoma and not Safari or Webkit as a whole.

This still doesn't work. There is a test page on the official JPEG-XL website. https://jpegxl.info/resources/jpeg-xl-test-page.html It is difficult for web developers to display a video with transparency in Safari. https://jakearchibald.com/2024/video-with-transparency/#it-doesnt-work-in-safari Either WebKit should fix animated AVIF bugs or ship support for animated JPEG XL. https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275906
