maybe obvious but here are the WGSL -> MSL translations:

countLeadingZeros -> clz
countOneBits -> popcount
countTrailingZeros -> ctz
reverseBits -> reverse_bits
extractBits -> extract_bits
faceForward -> faceforward
insertBits -> insert_bits
