Browser selection vs console

Selection highlight sometimes 'sticks' to bullet markers though the Selection API in the console reports the correct selection and the selection does not appear in the profiler. This happens when range selecting with the mouse across lists.

This looks like it could be due to block level elements inside of list items, but the browser is also not repainting to display the correct selection.
